The kitchen is parallel to the island
Two-row kitchen - a functional solution
A functional double-row kitchen must be ergonomic, aesthetic and tailored to the user's needs.
Convenience counts in every kitchen; freedom of movement while preparing meals and saving time. An ergonomic kitchen is the basis. It eliminates the need to "travel" between devices, worktops and cabinets, while bumping into equipment.
When planning your kitchen, take your preferences and possibilities into account. Even height and age matter! People who are not tall will find it difficult to remove dishes or food products from the cupboards mounted under the ceiling. On the other hand, seniors should have good access to the most frequently used elements of equipment so that they do not have to bend down or climb a ladder all the time.
The time you spend in the kitchen is an important factor. Some people stay longer, preparing meals from A to Z, others prefer to reheat them, so they drop by for a moment. These differences translate into, among other things, the size of the refrigerator, the number of household appliances and cabinets, and thus the area of the entire room.
A parallel kitchen fits almost any interior!
Why is a two-row kitchen, also known as a two-line or parallel kitchen, a functional solution? Because it can take into account all the above-mentioned aspects and apply them in interiors with different: surface, location in relation to other rooms, shape or style; both in a block of flats and in a single-family house. In a word, a two-row kitchen is a universal kitchen.
How to arrange a double-row kitchen?
The undoubted advantages of a two-row kitchen include easy navigation and adherence to the rules of the so-called working triangle. The famous principle of the working triangle makes it easier to use the kitchen and refers to the places occupied by individual zones - the stove and the sink, separated by the worktop, are on one side, and on the other side there is a fridge, a second worktop, a microwave and an oven. The width of a two-row kitchen should be at least 240 cm, and the free space after installation is 90 - 120 cm. The household appliances you use most often should be placed close to the worktop.
If you choose a parallel kitchen, you have two options, the common feature of which is one lane:
simple layout with an island,
built-up parallel walls.
Two-row open kitchen with an island - for socializing!
The kitchen parallel to the island, open to the living room, makes the house more spacious, so it is perfect not only in large rooms, but also in small apartments. On the island, you can place a main worktop or a sink, it will also serve as a dining table. Do you like to talk to other household members or guests while cooking? This kitchen is made for you!
Don't forget about three important points. First of all, in kitchenettes, the cooking area must be provided with a good extractor hood that "catches" intense smells, for example, of fried food. Secondly, keep the kitchen in order. You don't want to show your guests a sink full of dirty dishes or scattered everywhere around containers with flour or dried fruit and nuts? Third, arrange the kitchen in the same style as the living room. A rustic kitchen in combination with a modern living room is out of the question.
Two-row kitchen closed without an island - smells and noises under control!
Such a kitchen, usually oblong, somewhat resembles a wagon and is often found in apartment blocks. The parallel arrangement works well in a narrow kitchen. On the right and on the left side there is a kitchen, and in front of the entrance there is a window. A closed kitchen has many advantages. It guarantees the isolation of odors and noises coming from the kitchen. It reduces the risk that the child starts playing with knives or other dangerous kitchen accessories. You also have more freedom when it comes to the style of arrangement.
However, you have to reckon with the fact that a closed kitchen needs more space, especially when you plan to put a dining table in it. In addition, there is a need to walk from the kitchen to the living room and back when moving dishes. After all, it's not proper to have guests in the kitchen, right? At the same time, the cook is separated from the rest of the household during cooking, which does not suit everyone.
