How to arrange a baby room?
A child's room is a special space in the house that should be arranged as functional as possible and in compliance with all safety rules. The versatility of the solutions and furniture used is also important, thanks to which, in the coming years, we will be able to easily modify the interior of the room, adapting it to the changing needs and expectations of a growing child. How to arrange the room of the youngest family member and what zones should it be divided into? What furniture is perfect for the kingdom of children?
Divide the child's room into zones
There should be three or four basic zones in a children's room: a bedroom, a wardrobe, and a play and study zone. The larger the interior of the room, the easier it is to divide it functionally, with a clear delineation of the boundaries between the zones. In small rooms, some zones will connect or overlap with each other, but if we arrange them with modern, compact and multifunctional furniture - the effect can be as satisfying as possible, both in terms of utility and aesthetics.
A small room - a compact piece of furniture
The offer of furniture stores and manufacturers of custom-made furniture includes furniture proposals that can combine the functions of a bed, desk and / or wardrobe. These are usually tall and massive structures (although light in reception), in which the bed is raised, and the space under it is arranged in a chosen way. You can also create a very pleasant and intimate place to play under the bunk bed (in the form of your favorite base!).
Of course, custom-made furniture, made for a specific room and for a specific child - will be perfectly matched in every respect: from details regarding dimensions, through materials and colors, to additional solutions.
Large room - full freedom in arranging
If the child's room has an area of several square meters (or more) - we can arrange it in any way, using any number of furniture and clearly separating and delimiting individual zones. In such cases, both chain store furniture and custom-made furniture will work well, as they will allow you to create a space that perfectly suits our needs, expectations and ideas.
In addition, when ordering furniture from the manufacturer, we can discuss with the designer the issue of "growing" of furniture with the child, and thus - the use of solutions that will allow in the following years, without major problems and additional costs, to change, for example, the interior of the wardrobe or the height of the desk.
Choose furniture for the children's room
Before we start completing the furniture for a child's room, choosing elements from the next categories - let's think about their design. Bet on colorful or single-color furniture? White or wood-colored? What materials will guarantee maximum durability and strength?
The most important rules for choosing furniture for a children's room
colored furniture requires a subdued setting, i.e. minimizing the colors and patterns on the walls and the floor, it should also be remembered that a large "confusion" to a small child's room is introduced by toys, so when deciding on colorful furniture, it is best to put on shelves and closed cabinets (hidden in toys will not be tiring to the eye);
one or two-color furniture is a universal solution that can be used by a child for many years; subdued colors of the furniture allow for any decoration of the walls, placing a patterned carpet on the floor and the use of various additional accessories (e.g. textile pillows or fashionable pouffes); furniture in the following colors is considered timeless: white, light and dark wood, gray;
subdued base (e.g. white, in the color of wood) and colorful fronts - this is a solution that is very popular, because it allows you to meet the child's current need for colorful furniture (e.g. in favorite pink, purple or orange) and be sure that after a few years, we will be able to undergo a seamless metamorphosis by changing the fronts (this is a small cost compared to the price of the entire set of new furniture);
modern custom-made furniture is made primarily of thick, hard and durable MDF boards, covered with laminate or PVC foil and varnished, the reliability of the furniture depends, among others, on on the thickness of the board and the quality of the joints used.
A set of furniture from different categories
In order to arrange a child's room in a comprehensive manner, one should reach for elements from four basic categories: bed, desk, bookcase and wardrobe. The bed can be a single or double bed or even a triple bed (if it is to be used by siblings who live together in the room) and can be a separate piece of furniture or equipped with additional storage space, or be part of a larger set (with a desk or a wardrobe).
In addition, a child's room must have a desk - for children (it will be used primarily for playing, drawing and painting) or a desk for teenagers. Another element of a set of children's furniture is a rack for storing toys and / or books as well as various kinds of children's or teenagers' knick-knacks. Instead of a bookcase, you can choose a spacious, modern wall unit, with which we can arrange one of the walls in the room - such a piece of furniture is a guarantee that there will be enough space for anything! The last element of the set will be a spacious wardrobe, preferably made to order, ideally suited to the interior of the room and the needs of its resident or residents.
